Port of Port Orford

When you Fish
for Fun

With the newly upgraded dock and the number of RV Parks, Campgrounds and Motels close by, sport fishermen from anywhere can enjoy ocean fishing in style.

Sport fishermen will find boat fuel for sale at the dock as well as air for diving tanks. A modest daily hoist fee gets you in and out of the water safely. A floating dock with a stairway to the main dock is available in good weather and higher tides. Makes it easy to tie up without being hoisted. The availability of the floating dock is decided by Port management and weather conditions.

Two hoists reduce waiting time, both in and out. Trained hoist operators are normally available from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Hours are adjusted seasonally. It's always a good idea to call the hoist shack (541-332-1306) for weather conditions and times of operation.

Fillet tables allow you the opportunity to cut up your own catch, or capable dock personnel can make that service available. Some of the finest Tuna or Salmon anywhere is caught in the Port Orford area...come and get your share. Click here for Rates and Promotions

Public Walk-On Access Fishing

There are several areas on the dock where you can do some angling. You may fish, at your own risk, on the jetty, on the lower Sport Dock, or over the side of the dock when there is light activity by the commercial fishermen. You must posses valid fishing licenses and or permits and must comply with Port staff and management regarding safety regulations at all times.

Bring your boat or hire a charter!

One of only six "dolly docks" in the world, the hoists at the port lift the vessels in and out of the water and they park on the dock. Leave your boat at home and hire a fishing charter from Pac Nor West, on the dock in Port Orford. They also cater to Scuba Divers. Click on logo for more information. The Pacific Ocean: In a kayak, canoe, or rowboat, you can catch bottom fish including lingcod, kelp greenling, red snapper, cabezon (a rockfish), and black snapper just waiting to snap up your bait around Nelly’s Cove. Or if you want bigger fish to fry, charter a boat at the Dock. There are more than fifty species of fish in the deep waters off shore.

Port Orford Dock: Fish off the Port Orford Dock or the jetty for smelt, sardine, herring, bottom fish, snappers, lingcod, halibut, and perch to name a few. Plus beach fish on the Dock Beach.
